Established: How We Attain Our Goals

Established: How We Attain Our Goals

Brooks and I have always been goal keepers [notice I said goal keepers and not goal setters]. About the time we married, we wrote out our life goals. Family goals, starting & growing a profitable business, growing our own food, paying debt off, raising a large herd of livestock, goals regarding our quality of life, a trip to Wyoming, and few financial goals were among the many listed.

By age 30, we realized that we had met nearly every single ambition with the exception of two – our desire for 3 to 5 children and a large parcel of land that fits our farming lifestyle and that our parents could retire on. One is out of our control (growing a family) and the other just takes time (acquiring land large enough to accommodate 100+ head of cattle).

How did we do that? How did we marry in our early twenties and accomplish nearly every goal for ourselves within a short period of time? Was our vision too small? Was is that we found the “secret” on how to meet goals? Read more

So, How Much DOES Infertility Cost???

So, How Much DOES Infertility Cost???

The financial cost of infertility is substantial.

Almost immediately, after deciding to seek medical help, dollar signs began orbiting my thoughts. I knew treatments were expensive but I wasn’t counting on them being rejected by insurance… thanks a lot Anthem. 😠

Yep, infertility treatments as well as diagnostic tests are all forfeited by our insurance. Read more

Money and the simple life.

It’s time to talk turkey… Project Debt Freedom is on… again.

Brooks and I have always been weird when it comes to this topic – of money and keeping up with the Jones’. We are that weird couple that enjoys a simple life and NOT because it’s a romantic idea. We do it because we genuinely love it. We love not being on the hamster wheel that so many find themselves on today, unable to jump off. Read more

Infertility: Our 10 Year Anniversary

Infertility: Our 10 Year Anniversary

This month marks a whopping 10 years that we’ve been waiting for our little bundle(s) of joy. That’s 10 years of waiting and wondering. Years of trying countless avenues with which to get pregnant (I mean how many can there be, right?!?!). Exactly 10 years ago, we fearfully and yet excitedly stopped all of our birth control and started dreaming of what was to be. We thought in a mere few months we would share the news that we were expecting our first. Then, begin picking out the nursery patterns, learning about diapers and poop and the arterial like spray of urine that comes from a boy {sigh… boys will be boys}, and stressing over daycare options. From the Pit to the Mountaintop and In Between

From the Pit to the Mountaintop and In Between

God is good. That’s all there is to it. The Holy Spirit has brought to mind the things I am to share with you today. Coffee in hand. My journal, bible, and heart are wide open. I’m ready to bring you to a level transparency that shows how in my weakness, I am made strong.

Y’all, I’ve been struggling these last few weeks. I mean, I have felt like the weight of this world has been on my shoulders. We all have been there. We’ve all been under the constraints of life.

In the spirit of “sharing is caring”, I’m going to share a few of my woes with you in hopes that perhaps one or a few of them will ring true with you today. Golly, that sounds sick? Doesn’t it??? Like I’m misery and would love some company??? That’s not what I mean and you know it.

My hope is that something may sound familiar because the ending of this short story is a good one. Read more

Stay at Home Wife… It’s not old fashioned but a PASSION.

Stay at Home Wife… It’s not old fashioned but a PASSION.

It’s official. I’m a Stay at Home Wife {SAHW}. Of course I’m hoping that a promotion is coming my way to Stay at Home Mom {SAHM}. But for now, my job description is everything but parenting.

I finished up my last day at my paying job yesterday. I’ve always had a hard time transitioning from job to job. Not that it’s an unwelcome change but it’s a stressful one. I’m the personality that likes to take care of everyone. So, when changes like this happen, I usually squeeze out as much of my sanity as possible to support both my old and new employer. Typically that meant working way overtime to get it all done for both employers. Yuk!

This time is different. I only had the one old employer and am now transitioning to Brooks & Jil’s Household, LLC. You guys, I’m not going lie… I am TERRIFIED!!! Read more

Supplements, Seeds, & Acupuncture OH MY!

Supplements, Seeds, & Acupuncture OH MY!

Hello All! I am so excited to share how our appointment with the Naturopathic Doctor went this week!

First, let me throw out a disclaimer. The regimens and advise shared in this post were given to me specifically. While a lot of these can be utilized by anyone, I highly suggest consulting a practitioner before trying them individually or all together.

Ok, with that out of the way I can share away!

Brooks and I had the pleasure of meeting with a Nathuropathic Doctor this week. As you may know by my last blog post we are not moving forward with IVF at this time. We had planned to do so but some stuff happened and we are not able to now. So, in lieu of that we are giving natural medicine a shot. Read more

Choose One: Wifedom or Motherhood???

Choose One: Wifedom or Motherhood???

By now, you’d think I would be a pro at the unknown. I mean it’s been almost 10 years since this journey began and it has been a big question mark from the start. Navigating this unpredictable life is something like walking blindfolded, having to feel your way through the darkness. You have arms length knowledge of what’s to come but nothing more. And sometimes it’s only elbow length. Life is like that.

Brooks and I are in that exact season. This entire summer we’ve known a change was coming. We knew something was going to be different and we thought we knew what that difference was.

I’ve even been planning my fall blog posts around these changes and how I’m going to tell you about it! I’ve been so eager to share with you!

But circumstances have changed and those plans aren’t plans anymore. At least not now. Read more
